More About No. 8 Lighting

Though we’re proud to call them local, Northern California-based No. 8 Lighting is so much more than a hometown hero. Their luxe architectural fixtures illuminate prominent and spectacular interior spaces near and far. No. 8 is probably best known for the 800 Series downlight family, which gave rise to the brand’s reputation as the creator of “the designer’s downlight.” Award-winning designers throughout the United States consistently choose the famed 800 Series downlight for high-profile residential design projects–You’ll even find 800 Series downlights installed in the White House!

More recently, No. 8 released the 200 Series family of downlights of comparable performance, quality and appearance at lower price points.

No. 8 Fixtures On Display in San Francisco

We’re huge fans of both the 800 and 200 Series, and we currently have fixtures from both families installed side-by-side in our studio in San Francisco. Contact us to set up a time to see and compare No. 8’s luxe 200 and 800 Series downlights at our studio. We’ll also show you their award-winning monopoint, plus, we’ll demonstrate how No. 8’s new tunable white dramatically impacts the appearance of color.

And we’re thrilled to announce that the new 200-HD will be making its debut in the No. 8 exhibit at our studio during a launch party that we’re throwing to kick-off our new limited-time-only Graypants installation. The party takes place on the evening of October 12th. It’s RSVP-only, so if you haven’t signed up yet, make sure you register!

Fashion, Form, Function

Inspired Architectural Innovation from Kreon

Whenever you’re looking for fresh design inspiration and innovative tools, Kreon is sure to impress. This brand’s sleek, European sensibility and attention to the fine details make it perfect for a wide range of modern interior and exterior environments.

Cool New Tools

Belgian architectural lighting brand Kreon wowed Northern California showgoers at last month’s Light! Design Expo with its host of brand new, imaginitive fixtures. These three new releases were a hit with the local trade community. If you didn’t catch them at the show, here’s a glimpse:

1. Inti

The award-winning Inti downlight allows the designer to create different atmospheres within the same environment. It features diffused illumination and directional lighting in the same fixture, and the results are spectacular. We especially love Inti’s potential applications in the hospitality sphere—the luminaires can be used to simultaneously illuminate a hallway and hotel room numbers beautifully and without unnecessary noise.

2. Stripe

Stripe’s visually interesting form factor is oozing with modern style. It’s a competitively priced fixture that you’re sure to love for hospitality, commercial and office environments. We’re particularly fond of the wall wash version.

3. Aplis 60

Aplis 60, the newest member of Kreon’s Aplis family of fully recessed, directional spotlights, features a 60mm aperture. Both the Aplis 60 fixed downlight and wall-wash boast a high-performance, faceted reflector for efficiency and uniformity.

Can’t Beat the Classics

Though we’re so excited to share the new launches with every specifier we meet, we’d be remiss if we didn’t remind you about these ultra-seek, effortlessly modern tools that are every bit as innovative today as when they first launched. Kreon emphasized two of our all-time favorite product families at Light! Design Expo: the minimal, ultra-versatile Cana channel and the sleek, made-to-measure, quick-ship Nuit system.

The case studies below show off the sleek appeal that these classic luminaires bring to a variety of spaces. The look scales extremely well to our local Northern California market: whether you’re designing a Napa Valley tasting room, a chicly modern coastal bed and breakfast, an urban high-rise or Silicon Valley corporate campus, Kreon is an excellent choice to bring modern sophistication and impressively precise illumination to your Northern California projects.

Elegance & Subtlety in Residence: sleek interior and exterior Kreon luminaires bring light to starkly beautiful details throughout this Spanish estate. Explore Music House.

Discover Jokerlight at Light! Design Expo

The Jokerlight team understands light as a fundamental element in life, and they create technical lighting for architecture that reflects this belief. A consistent minimalist aesthetic is present throughout the line’s array of recessed fixtures, surface-mounted luminaires, and low-voltage track systems.

Jokerlight will be highlighting some of its most internationally beloved offerings at Light! Design Expo. Their 2017 iF Design Award-winning Shot Light and 2019 iF Design Award-winning Black Foster fixtures are glare-free and precise, making it near impossible to see the source of the beautiful light that the fixtures emit. They call this the ‘The Invisible Black’ effect. It must be seen to be believed, and Jokerlight will be demonstrating it at the expo.

Their low-voltage track systems are so cleverly designed and streamlined that they invite a host of sophisticated, elegant, and creative applications. The 48V system is endlessly versatile and so much fun to install. The new Minimal Track in 24V is so tiny and sleek. Its miniaturized track and components give the look of an ultrafine, minimalist line floating in space. It’s no wonder that it won a 2020 Red Dot Design Award.

Love what you see from this brand? Whether you’re planning to be at the expo or not, we’re your contact for Jokerlight inquiries in Northern California or Hawaii. Reach out for more information or to find out how to bring these and other extraordinary Jokerlight fixtures to your commercial, retail, hospitality and office design projects.
